Turbonomic's Employee Resource Group, People of Color in Technology (POCIT) issued the statement below on Monday, June 1st, to our employees. We would like to extend the reach of this note in solidarity with not only our Black employees, but our partners, customers, and communities.
We hope you all had good weekends with your loved ones. We are assuming everyone has been following the news, social media, and is aware of the widespread response to racial injustice and the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult last few days for Black Americans. Most of us are currently living with fear, anger, sadness, and exhaustion toward a topic that isn’t new at all but has recently become more visible and felt more acute; especially after weeks of data showing the disproportionate impact of COVID on the community.
Silence is not the answer. Silence is not acceptable. Silence is not to be tolerated.
We have the voice and the power to decide when enough is enough. Any African-American you know, whether they are an employee at Turbonomic or a member of your home community, lives with the weight on their shoulders that they could be the next Eric Garner or the next George Floyd. It is up to us to make sure we protect our brothers and sisters and continue to let them know we stand with them especially during these times.
We can only get through this together and POCIT is here to support our Turbonomic community.
Please feel free to reach out to us if you need help or are looking for ways you can begin/continue to support the #BlackLivesMatter Movement.
