IBM Acquires Turbonomic to Power the Future of AI-Driven Hybrid Cloud

I am thrilled to share that IBM has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Turbonomic today, April 28th, 2021. As we reflect on the digital transformation that has accelerated in the last year, thereby increasing the need for advanced AI solutions like Turbonomic, the timing could not be more opportune for our partnership to evolve into an acquisition.

The synergy between Turbonomic and IBM stems from a shared purpose – to assure application performance, advance AIOps, and deliver cross-cloud and container management. Over the last decade, Turbonomic has grown with our customers as they modernize their legacy virtual environments and look to public cloud, cloud-native, and the edge to transform their business. Turbonomic’s Application Resource Management (ARM) and Network Performance Management (NPM) capabilities have given customers an AI-driven way to dynamically resource their applications and assure performance across any environment.

In parallel, IBM has been ambitiously building a one-stop shop of AI-powered automation capabilities for both business and IT. IBM has established itself as a leader in hybrid cloud software, empowering customers to modernize their IT landscapes from data center to edge by taking advantage of enterprise-grade, cloud-native technologies that run anywhere, on any cloud.

As these paths converge, we are so excited about the opportunity ahead for our customers – particularly as IBM comes off the recent acquisition of Instana and the launch of Watson AIOps. With Turbonomic’s ARM software integrated with the APM and real-time observability capabilities of Instana and the ITOps capabilities of IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, customers will be able to assure application performance and minimize costs through new levels of optimization. IBM also plans to leverage Turbonomic’s Network Performance Management (NPM) products and strong presence in the telco industry to complement its own offerings and expertise in this area, helping customers intelligently optimize applications running in 5G environments.

Between the stellar assembly of leadership, our synergistic technology, and combination of world-class talent, we are well-positioned to bring more value to our customers than ever before. The mission that Turbonomic initially set out on will continue – but now, at a previously unimaginable scale with the support from IBM. We look forward to working together to build the future of AI-driven hybrid cloud.
